Southern Utah Valley Power Systems (SUVPS) has selected a qualified contractor and
will begin construction on Phase 1 of the Power Grid Improvement program, Canyon
Road to Taylor Transmission Line, as early as March 2026. The project schedule has
been changed due to supply chain issues obtaining the new power poles, although
those issues are now resolved.

The project is expected to have minimal traffic impacts, though occasional partial lane
closures may occur. Nearby residents and property owners have been notified of
potential effects. Regular email updates will be provided to keep the community
informed. To receive updates, please email your contact information to
info@suvpsutah.gov.

“This project is a critical investment in the future of our communities,” said SUVPS
Board Chairperson, Kelly Petersen. “By strengthening our transmission system today,
we’re ensuring reliable, affordable power for families and businesses across southern
Utah Valley for decades to come.”

Phase 1 will strengthen the regional power grid to meet growing community needs by
upgrading the existing high-voltage transmission line. The route extends along Canyon
Road, 400 South, Scenic Drive, Arrowhead Trail, Del Monte Road, and 900 South,
concluding at a new electric substation west of I-15 in Spanish Fork.

Southern Utah Valley Power Systems (SUVPS) is a non-profit political subdivision,
organized under the laws of the state of Utah and comprised of members
from Payson City Power, Salem City Power, Spanish Fork City Power, Springville City
Power, and the South Utah Valley Electric Service District.
